Small jon boats with outboard motors should always keep and extra tank of gas on board.  There will defiantly come a time when you are done for the day and start to head for shore.  Just when you get out in open water, sure enough, you run out of gas.  Now where is that gas station?  Miles from you I guarantee.  An extra tank will get you back with little problem.

A boat cover is also a great thing to have.  But, don't leave it in the truck.  Take it with you if you expect rain.  Why?  Because you can use it to cover the entire boat when there is a down pour.  This way, you won't need to bail out the boat after it rains on you for about a good solid hour.  No need to go back to the car.  Just get under the cover and wait it out.

Boat Trailer Wheel Lug Nuts, the Stainless Steel kind.  These always come in handy because your trailer is going to be in and out of the water.  How many times have you found that the wheel nuts get rusted after one summers use.  I found that a little graphite and steel lug nuts never rust.  You can't fix a flat if you can't get the wheel off.  Sadly, a lot of fishermen don't think about this.  You have to perform maintenance on all your equipment not just the used jon boat!
